Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee, who is known for his superb acting skills, said that actors should not be stubborn about their ideas or personality. They should always be ready for change change. Manoj believes self-obsession can destroy an actor's career as it stops them from channelling their instinct. The 49-year-old actor, who has made characters such as Bhiku Mhatre, Sardar Singh, Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras immortal, said an actor should be ready to learn and unlearn things.

"Every actor has a way of preparing for a role. What is important is that an actor should be ready to drop and add ideas when giving the final performance. It is a difficult thing to do. It has a lot to do with the actor's personality. If somebody is stubborn about their idea they won't be able to do it," he said.

The actor added that over the years, he has realised that he is not "obsessive about what I feel for the character".

"And then there is instinct. Shekhar Kapur told me once, 'Actors start dying when their instinct starts failing.' He was so right. I believe actors' instinct can only be alive if you are ready to learn and unlearn all those things you have done in the past," Bajpayee said during a session at the ongoing Dharamshala International Film Festival.

The session titled 'Manoj Bajpayee and the Art of Acting' was conducted by senior journalist and writer Aseem Chabbra.

Bajpayee said in order to unlearn, he avoids discussing his achievements.

"I don't get self-obsessed. Instinct of an actor has to be alive. It has to be as alive as of a child. It is a difficult task but with it comes easy for me. I cringe while watching my films," he added.

Director Vivek Agnihotri is all set to make a trilogy on the history of Hindu civilisation with a whopping budget of Rs 250 crore. The ambitious project has begun with extensive research and it will be rolled out over the next five years.

A 10-member research panel, led by Agnihotri, has been formed with eminent and award-winning scholars, historians, archaeologists, astrologists and anthropologists. Casting for the project will begin after the release of Agnihotri's next The Tashkent Files, read a statement issued on behalf of the filmmaker.

Agnihotri said in the statement: "The Tashkent Files in itself was a humongous project to pull through. After 3 years of intensive research, finally, we are in post-production and looking at an early 2019 release. As for my trilogy, I would say we have just laid the foundation. The project is gigantic in terms of scale and we will cover the Vedas, Mahabharata, Indus Valley and the various forces of nature that have been central to the Hindu civilisation's existence.

"I was conducting sessions at Purdue and Oxford University and more recently was called for speaking at the World Hindu Congress at Chicago where 125 years ago Swami Vivekananda made his historical speech. Enthusiasts and academicians took note of my work and came forward to fund the project," he added.

The trilogy, he said, will be funded by a newly formed consortium of donors, Karmandya Studios based in Houston, Texas and will closely monitor the production also, especially the research.
